SUMMARY:Buzzing for the Summer
DESCRIPTION:Buzzing for the Summer – A Deep Listening® experience to welcome the summer solstice \nOn the longest day of the year\, you’re invited into a guided 2-hour Deep Listening® experience shaped by my ongoing listening research with bees. We’ll explore the difference between involuntary listening (what arrives without asking) and voluntary/selective listening (how we choose to attend). Through gentle somatic movement\, guided listening practices (focused & global attention)\, a sonic meditation\, and short explorations of sound and silence\, we’ll tune perception and reconnect with the environment—together. \nAs the days begin to shorten\, bees shift from growth to storing and sustaining. \nLed by Feli Navarro\, sound artist and certified Deep Listening® facilitator. \n

SUMMARY:Deep Listening Dreams
DESCRIPTION:Deep Listening Dreams\nFriday\, June 19\, 2026 • 6–8pm • $30\nTime + Space\, 953 Chung King Rd\, Los Angeles\, 90012\nLed by Salty Xi Jie Ng + Crystal Sasaki\n\nThis workshop explores dreams as a form of listening\, drawing from IONE’s Listening in Dreams\, Oliveros’s Quantum Listening\, Ng’s ancestral dreamwork\, and Sasaki’s somatic movement work. Through sonic meditations\, including vocalization\, interpretive movement\, reflective conversation\, writing\, and drawing\, we will explore connections between the dreaming being\, the listening body\, and collective experience.\n\nDeep Listening\, as developed by Pauline Oliveros\, IONE\, and Heloise Gold\, is an embodied practice engaging sonic attention\, heightened awareness of external and internal environments\, improvisation\, and playful creative skills vital to personal and community growth.\n\nParticipants are encouraged to take note of their dreams in the days leading up to the workshop. We work with an expanded definition of dreaming; you do not have to recall your night dreams. This workshop is for anyone who is curious\, no experience needed\, movement will be minimal.\n\nSalty Xi Jie Ng is an artist\, performer\, educator\, and akashic records practitioner from Singapore\, living between there and Portland OR. Her transdisciplinary practice is an enchanted\, alchemical site intimately exploring eroticism\, ancestry\, the end-of-life\, and spirit worlds. She created the Ancestor Dream Visitation Repository\, hosts Ancestor Dream Circles\, and is the 2024 recipient of the Chamberlain Award for social practice artists.\n\nCrystal Sasaki is a Yonsei Butoh dancer\, performance artist\, and somatic educator living in Los Angeles. Her practice begins and ends with improvisation\, excavating internal and relational terrain in pursuit of raw presence. Through movement and audiovisual poetry she explores intuitive states\, archetypal entanglements\, and human/nonhuman transformations.\n\nSalty + Crystal are long time friends\, collaborators\, and certified Deep Listening facilitators through the Center for Deep Listening.

SUMMARY:Listening as Refuge: Deep Listening in Uncertain Times
DESCRIPTION:Sound Sangha has gathered weekly for five years — a container of music\, silence\, and presence that became home for many of us. This is its first live gathering in a new form\, and it continues the question we kept returning to in those sessions: what does deep listening mean when the world is genuinely difficult? \nNot as an escape from what’s hard. As a way of meeting it. Refuge isn’t hiding — it’s the ground you stand on. \n\n\n\n“The open ear is not passive. Listening is a practice of presence\, courage\, and refuge.” \n~Michael Reiley\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSession structure\n\n\n\n\n\n15 min\nOpening talk — Right Listening\, the Triple Jewel\, and listening as a posture of strength\n\n\n30 min\nAhlam & Michael conversation — a practitioner’s perspective on listening in a war zone (Lebanon)\n\n\n30 min\nOpen discussion\n\n\n30 min\nClosing sound bath — live\, for integration & meditation\n\n\n\nMICHAEL REILEY\nMusician · Composer · Deep Listening® facilitator\nMichael has been composing and performing for over 25 years\, working at the threshold of sound\, silence\, and the body — in hospice care\, breathwork ceremony\, maternity wards\, and contemplative practice. He is certified in the Deep Listening® lineage of Pauline Oliveros\, holds an MHTP certification\, and founded Sound Sangha in 2021. He is based in Tuscany. \nAHLAM DIRANI\nArtist · Activist · Deep Listener\nAhlam Dirani is an interdisciplinary performing artist and community arts practitioner whose work unfolds at the intersection of bodies\, memories\, and land. \nHer practice is grounded in embodiment\, collective memory\, feminist inquiry\, and deep listening\, while enjoying experimentation\, collaboration\, and practices of collective care. \nShe employs movement-based research\, oral history\, and ecofeminist thinking to create artistic processes where stories\, gestures\, and archives become shared sites of reflection and transformation. She is based in Lebanon. \n

SUMMARY:Deep Listening Day in Amsterdam
DESCRIPTION:The Deep Listening community in the Netherlands is excited to announce the first edition of Deep Listening Day in Amsterdam\, taking place in the unique setting of the Orgelpark. Located next to the Vondelpark\, the Orgelpark is a remarkable concert space dedicated to organ music\, housing a collection of eight exceptional instruments. At the heart of this edition is the exploration of the connection between our inner soundscape of breath\, the surrounding environment\, and the living\, breathing presence of the organs. The day features a Deep Listening workshop led by Sharon Stewart\, a sound installation and performance for four musicians interacting with the external soundscape (The Infinite Garden)\, and concludes with a final concert including The Memory of Now by IONE and Arctic Air by Pauline Oliveros.

SUMMARY:Deep Listening Day - Workshop Anchorage Museum
DESCRIPTION:The Anchorage Museum is pleased to host a Deep Listening® workshop in partnership with the Center for Deep Listening at Rensselaer\, led by facilitators Simonetta Mignano\, Ximena Alarcón-Díaz\, IONE\, and Stephanie Loveless\,. \nDeep Listening® is a practice developed by groundbreaking composer and electronic music pioneer Pauline Oliveros\, who described it as “a way of listening in every possible way to everything possible\, to listen no matter what you are doing.” The practice encompasses bodywork\, sonic meditations\, interactive performance\, and listening to the sounds of daily life—nature\, one’s own thoughts\, imagination\, and dreams. Deep Listening® cultivates a heightened awareness of the sonic environment and encourages experimentation\, improvisation\, and collaboration. \nIn this workshop\, participants will explore Deep Listening® through sound\, movement\, and dream. The program begins with an in-person introductory session focused on embodied listening\, followed by a hybrid session with renowned guest facilitators that centers on sound and dreams. Participants will also be invited to create their own Deep Listening score. Selected materials generated during the workshop will be assembled into a collective Deep Listening zine\, produced by the Anchorage Museum in collaboration with the Center for Deep Listening at Rensselaer. \nThis workshop is designed for adults and limited to 15 participants who can commit to the full duration. Participation is free\, thanks to the support of the Alaska State Council on the Arts. Registration is required. If you have any questions about this program contact Simonetta Mignano at smignano@anchoragemuseum.org. \nMore here: https://www.anchoragemuseum.org/visit/calendar/event-details/?id=ufnlca4b6pll7kcpnqvdo8ohho
